Mentoring Latina Students

¡Si, Se Puede!

My doctoral studies focused on obstacles many Latina students face while pursuing post-high school education. While they may seem overwhelming to students, and perhaps to faculty and advisers, many of them can actually be managed with careful planning and outreach to both local services and the students themselves.

Planning and developing strategies to meet these challenges constitutes a second service I offer to colleges and universities, post-secondary training schools, and agencies that work with Latina women.

This is a very natural outgrowth of my professional work and education focus. Many of the Organizational Development (OD) strategies I learned and use with organizational clients apply to working with those who want to assist Latina women not just stay in college and graduate on time, but thrive in their careers and in the workplace.

With the right assistance, these women will develop a ¡Si, Se Puede! (Yes I Can!) attitude and lean on their faith in God to take them through college, with good grades, and on to a successful career in the fields of their choice. I’ve seen it happen over and over again, against odds that would flatten just about anyone trying to do it all on his or her own.

If you work with Latina women of any age, please contact me to discuss what you and your organization do and how I can support and help you maximize your efforts.
